Today is World Diabetes Day, a campaign that addresses the issues facing the global diabetes community. World Diabetes Day is celebrated on November 14, to mark the birthday of Frederick Banting who, along with Charles Best, first conceived the idea which led to the discovery of insulin in 1922.
Mississippi has the second highest rate of diagnosed diabetes in the nation, according to a news release from the Mississippi State Department of Health.
